Single Arm Kettlebell Swing

Single Arm Kettlebell Swing Technique:

  • The technique for the single arm kettlebell swing should be done just like the double arm kettlebell swing, but with one arm.
  • For your grip on the kettlebell, you can use whatever is comfortable, but a common grip is a hookgrip, which is holding the corner of the kettlebell handle. Your thumb and index finger will end up doing most of the work while the other three fingers are mainly just for assistance.  This grip should help you to last longer while doing this exercise by creating less friction on the fingers and palm.
  • On your back swing, point your thumb in the direction of the swing.
  • On the forward swing, relax your elbow .  This will enable you to keep the kettlebell tighter to your body which will optimize your single arm kettlebell swing technique.
  • On each swing, your free arm should swing freely in tandem with your kettlebell arm.  This enables you to maintain momentum and form.
